We have said it many times: sustainability for us is not a slogan, but a daily commitment. And today we can tell a new, beautiful chapter of this journey.
Last April 3, Bosco Dulevo was officially born, a 13.000-square-meter green area in the Fontanellato area, within our company's park, which is home to 1.040 new trees. A concrete reforestation project, carried out in collaboration with the KilometroVerdeParma Consortium, with the operational support of the Rastelli company and with the contribution of the Emilia-Romagna Region.
Together, to plant the future
April 3, our first Corporate Volunteer Day, was a day we are unlikely to forget. We were divided into five groups and -guided by the Consortium's forestry experts- actively participated in the planting of the trees, with explanations and curiosities that made us feel part of something important.
There were colleagues from Dulevo, but also representatives of the families of collaborators who have sadly passed away over the years: some trees were dedicated just to them, in a touching moment full of memories. There was no shortage of smiles, dirty hands on the ground and a genuine team spirit that made us feel closer as people even before than as colleagues.
An event shared with the community
The inauguration was also attended by a number of local authorities and entities. These included Luigi Spinazzi, Mayor of Fontanellato, and Gianluca Borghi, Councillor for Environmental Sustainability of the City of Parma, who shared with us the importance of initiatives like this for the health of the territory and people. Also attending were some representatives of the Comando dei Carabinieri of Fontanellato, who are always close to the local community, and the Fa.Ce. association, which let us touch some of the achievements made with passion in their social and inclusive projects. Of course, our partners from the KilometroVerdeParma Forestry Consortium and the Rastelli company, who accompanied us at every stage of the initiative, could not be absent.
A forest for all
The Bosco Dulevo will be PEFC certified, guaranteeing sustainable forest management. The trees planted -Ash, Dogwood, Oak, and Field Maple, accompanied by flowering shrubs such as Alaterno, Frangula, Terebinth, and Spino Cervino- are all native species. They will grow here to improve air quality, foster biodiversity, create shade and beauty, and become a landmark for the local community.
As Maurizio Giansiracusa, General Manager of Dulevo, pointed out:
“The Dulevo Forest represents our concrete commitment to environmental protection. Responsibility and gratitude are core values for Dulevo: responsibility to contribute to the protection of biodiversity and gratitude to nature that provides us with precious resources.”
Also commenting on the project is Francesca Bertini, Dulevo's Chief Sustainability Officer:
“We embarked on the path of sustainability about two years ago, the roots of which were already naturally present in Dulevo's DNA, with the creation of a team of ESG Ambassadors made up of colleagues from all business functions. Since then, we have been building step by step a change that starts with the people, involves the territory and is reflected in every business choice.
Within the Fayat Group there is great attention to these issues, and Dulevo today strives to be a lighthouse that drives change, leading by example with concrete actions such as the Dulevo Forest. We work on many fronts-environmental, technological, social, organizational-but we believe that training, active involvement and caring for human relationships are at the heart of our sustainable strategy. This forest is also and above all that: a tangible sign of what we can do together.”
A seed that will continue to grow
The Forest is here, visible and alive, but it is also something more: it is the symbol of a collective effort, involving not only Dulevo but the whole territory.
It was great to see employees and families working together, having fun and sharing a project that looks to the future.
And this is just the beginning: we will continue to take care of this green space, because we believe that sustainability is cultivated, just like a tree.
